Kick Bong (aka Franck Jousselin) is a prolific and eclectic musician whose downtempo/psybient releases span a decade. He’s also released an album of exotic rock with his band Triptone.
After Kick Bong signed with Cosmicleaf Records, it’s been easier to buy his music. I remember searching the planet for a CD copy of “A Cup of Tea.” Now you can buy it re-released through Cosmicleaf.
I had the good fortune of meeting him in Paris a few years ago, and we spent a very rainy evening chatting in a cafe in the 12eme arrondissement. The result was this Kick Bong interview.
His latest release is “A Waking Dream,” a uniquely Kick Bong album with a range of emotions from “The Happy Faces” to “Melancholia,” and combines spacy psychill with trip-hoppy beats and pagan chants. You can hear it on full and buy it on Bandcamp.
