It’s 2015 … and hooray! We have a new, shorter name: Expandizons.
Episode 92 first went online on Mixcloud. For much of 2015, this podcast series wasn’t accessible in iTunes because our previous web hosting service shut down our archives for using too much bandwidth. During this time, “Expand Your Musical Horizons” became EXPANDIZONS and went stream-only. Now we have a new web host and we’re slowly getting the episodes back online. (updated Dec 2015)
Let’s talk about episode 92. What’s not to love about Balkan and eastern beats, right? SuPerPendeJoS loves to mix Balkan with other genres, so we’re starting out with a “Hasrat” remix, which they generously shared with their fans. Then we follow with a track from Nomhadas, featured on [dunkelbunt’s] “Sun Dub, vol. 2.” You can always count on [dunkelbunt] to be a genre leader.
A few notes about some of the other tracks here: Neve Naive has a new album out, but the track featured in this episode was on “The Inner Peace of Cat and Bird,” which released in 2012. I was lucky to see them live in Berlin and they’re fantastic…so I hope this gets you interested in hearing more of them.
Karmacoda was super excited to release the vocal track (included in this episode) with Beth Hirsch (best known for her collaboration with Air) and I’ve been super late in featuring it here. (Apologies to B!) It’s a lovely track…enjoy.
