Expand Your Musical Horizons (Expandizons) began as an extension of my album compilations for Magnatune and my vision to promote artists who use a Creative Commons license or release their music on netlabels. I love all kinds of music, but I wanted to focus on independent distribution models.
Eventually this series became a forum where I could also promote any independent musicians that I liked. They just need to be interested in playing some of their music through a podcast format and have flexible licensing agreements that allow it.
In 2015 I changed the name to Expandizons and started moving some of the podcasts to streaming sites like Mixcloud. This was because my previous webhost didn’t like how many downloads we were getting. In November 2015 I got a new webhost, so I’m going to start uploading the episodes again so you can get them through iTunes. Many of the older page links (and iTunes links) might not work for awhile during this transition. Contact me through Soundcloud if you have any any feedback.
Since 2006, I’ve played over 1,000 tracks by hundreds of musicians and I’ve recorded some interviews and guest appearances. I preview dozens of tracks for each episode to find music that I enjoy and that I think you will, too.
I love to play music in different languages because music is the only language you need to understand.
Spread the word, visit the artist and label links, and enjoy.
